TONY 07' PREDICTIONS.
BEST MUSICAL
Curtains
Grey Gardens
Mary Poppins
Spring Awakening

WANT: I’m torn, honestly. I love Spring Awakening, but it’s a tie between that and Grey Gardens.
WILL: I think Spring Awakening will win. And I won’t be disappointed at all. The haters will, but that’s okay.

Now, before you all attack me. I love Spring Awakening; I think it’s a very well put together show. Sure the subject matter is a little bit juvenile and some of the lyrics are not the best – BUT I really love the show.

I love Curtains too, but I don’t think it will win.

Grey Gardens is excellent.

So yeah, I’m torn.

You all know how I feel about COMPANY. I honestly don’t think it gets the proper appreciation that it deserves. The cast recording is fun, but it is absolutely no comparison the seeing that show live. The show – to me – was flawless. I hope it wins, but I don’t think it will.

110 shade = me very excited.

ACL, eh, I’m not that big of a fan. Granted I like it, and yeah, it’s a “classic” but I think Company is a hell of a lot better. (and the fangirls attack me)

Love Michael, I’ve got nothing bad to say about him. It really is a shame he didn’t win for Sweeney last year.

I like Jon Groff, but I say give him a few years and lets see what he’s got.

Love David Hyde Pierce, but I don’t think (personally) the chances of him winning aren't that high (And Jenny stabs me haha)

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

Raul Esparza, I think he’s long overdue for an award, and I know that’s no excuse to give him one this year, but he is fucking fabulous in this role. I was in tears (and no, not because it was OMGRAULESPARZAIS10METRESAWAYFROMME) because he (imo) captures Bobby perfectly.

I love Mary Louis, but I think I like Karen a little bit more. So my fingers are crossed for her. :)

Lousy. We're moving & waiving a lot of my stuff assignment-wise, and rescheduling my finals. Because school for more than 2 hours a day is really not an option.

It's a trilogy by Tom Stoppard with wonderful people like Billy Crudup (MY LOVAAAAH) and Ethan Hawke and Amy Irving and Jennifer Ehle and Martha Plimpton, about Russian philosophers and the like in the 19th century. And it's up for ten, second only in number of nominations to Spring Awakening, and more than any other play. WOOOOOO!

It makes sense. As long as I do what I can, they're really, really understanding, and I'm getting all sorts of special exceptions and all. They're being incredibly nice about it. I've actually missed enough classes to the point where they'd be allowed not to give me credit for them, so I'm really, really grateful.

(I don't want Curtains to walk away empty handed. Since best musical chances are slim and the actors do totally deserve those awards)

I totally agree with your comment about JGalls (as he most endearly referred to). His acting is just AMAZING, it clearly stands out from the rest of the cast. He is totally deserving of the award because of that and also because he is just an all around great person, as I am told. And the hottness thing... eh just a little added bonus, lol.

I agree with you. A lot of people say his acting was “juvenile”, but I don't think they take into consideration how the role generally should be portrayed. Moritz is supposed to be an awkward character, and I think because of that specific "character aspect" of the role that most people don't give John the credit he deserves.

SA will win for Best Musical. Because Tony voters suck. I'm not trying to say it's a bad show, but I just think Grey Gardens is 100x better. Then again, I'm not as into the pop-rock shows...and Grey Gardens is, in my opinion, sort of a throw back show. Ya know?

If Raul doesn't win? I'll probably throw myself off my roof. End of story.

I love every Lead Actress nominee other than the Legally Blonde chick. I just love them all and I wouldn't mind any of the winning....But Christine just totally deserves this award more than anyone else this year. The competition is fierce, but I think she outshines them all.

Totally agree about Featured Actress. I hope it's either Karen or Mary Louise

yeah, I think SA will win too. and I think I will be one of the only happy people - but I'm cool with that :P

However, I'm not one to disregard the fact that GG or Curtains (haven't really heard any Mary Poppins stuff, but I assume it's good too) are good shows.

Raul? Yeah, better win. I will riot otherwise.

I really really hope Christine gets it. She is definitely the most deserving imo.

Man, if the A Chorus Line revival wins anything, or even gets nominated for that matter, I would probably die.

I'm not trying to start drama with fans. BUT IT WAS SO TERRIBLE. Way to ruin the music, revival cast. :[
