Here's something you probably didn't know about me.
I’m curious.

I’m sure a lot of you come from different backgrounds, and believe in many different things.

And I’m just wondering, what do you all believe in?

I can honestly say that I am an atheist. And though sharing that with people in the past has gotten me in trouble, I take no shame in saying how I feel, or what I don’t believe in. This doesn’t mean I’m a bad person; I’m still lame, and Kim, and it doesn’t make me any different than I was before. Please do not judge me, because I judge nobody on what they believe in. Everyone is entitled to think what they think. And it’s very frustrating to me to be judged and stated that I’m an indecent human being because I do not believe in God.

So don’t be shy, what do you all believe in?

(This is probably the post that no one comments on)

I believe in God. I'm a Christian.

But I do struggle with a lot of things regarding my faith, especially the forgiveness, mercy & grace aspect of things.

I'm Orthodox Christian, Jesus, GOd, Holy Trinity, etcetera, etcetera... Not Catholic though. I don't think you're a bad person, I don't judge people based on religion, or their beliefs, or non-beliefs in your case. I don't think it's religion that makes a person, its the person that makes the person.

For a while I considered becoming a Buddhists, it was an interesting time in life... I still consider it, actually. :) But I love my Jesus too much.

Haha, a lot of times people judge me on my Christianity, but I'm not ashamed of my religion, I'm proud of it. Just how you aren't ashamed of your atheism. When I was younger, I used to get atheism mixed with agnosticism. They're both considered non-religions, but agnostics believe in some kind of afterlife, a god of some sort, or higher power. Why am I rambling? :S

I believe in the beauty of the violent and the non-violent, the freedom given to us at birth no matter who we are, where we're born or what we look like, love and passion and compassion and desire, and truth. In everything.

I take different aspects of religion. But, a lot of it is a weapon and in a lot of senses it can be dangerous. But, as for your question, I just take different things from religion. I don't believe in the Christian God, or anything like that.

I believe in God.
There have been times when I honestly haven't, because it felt like He was doing nothing for me, but I can honestly say that my entire family would be starving and cold if it wasn't for His miracles.
Luck is God in disguise.
But, as a side to that, I don't act like the good Christian I should. Yet, I still believe I'm going to Heaven.
It's random. And weird. And don't even get me started on evolution vs. creation.

The majority of my friends are atheist, so trust me, it's fine. :-)

I, however, am Catholic. I go to church on Sunday, I pray, and I believe in Jesus. I can understand why people don't believe it, but I just do. That's how I was born and raised.

I was raised attending both Lutheran and Catholic services with a strong scientific bent to my upbringing as well, so I was used to compromising science and the Bible and various aspects of Christianity early on. Somewhere in between confirmation (eighth grade) and the beginning of college, I lost my blind faith in God and Christianity. My first year of college I went through a short Wiccan phase and decided it wasn't for me. Last fall when I was in Ecuador, I went to a couple Catholic Masses, hoping I could believe in it again, because that belief really was a comfort when I believed it completely, but it couldn't be regained. Overall I've come to see organized religions as something unnatural, because belief is too subjective to be 100% true for every person.

I still feel like there is something greater than the visible going on, but I don't know what. Having worked with dead bodies, I believe that whatever soul or spark of life is there while we're alive goes somewhere else after death, though I don't know where. I feel great senses of mysticism and holiness of some sort in beautiful churches, breathtaking moments in nature, etc. I find religious art and architecture incredibly moving, despite not actually believing in the dogma.

I believe in science, in humanity, in beauty, in love.

HEY! My buddy, my pal. Same here. No God or Allah or whatever else for me, but I'm happy for and respect those who do belive.

I always thought budhism was kinda neat though, and now at school I take yoga classes and am part of a little.. er.. once a week group of people who meditate, and it's kinda cool. Im not budhist, but I guess you could say im starting to take an intrest in that kind of thing? ..... just because Im atheist doesnt mean i cant apply some budhist.. herm. .. THINGIES to my life.. or something. :/

I'm completely non-religious. So much so that I wouldn't even label myself an atheist/agnostic/pagan. I don't know if I believe in heaven or hell but I'm much too occupied with the beauty of this life here and now to wonder if some bearded man in the clouds will rescue my soul once I bite the dust.

I believe in freedom of religion, just as long as it's not used as a weapon. (I'm looking at you, jihadists of the Muslim and Christian persuasion! You know, the people who give religion a bad name.)

I don't believe in anything. I don't want to have false hopes. Plus, I can't put faith into anything that has taken so many loved ones away.

I'm Roman Catholic but I don't believe in a lot of it. And according to my old catholic shcool teachers, if you don't believe all of it, you're not a Catholic, so I don't know anymore.

I'm Roman Catholic "officially" but I do such a poor job of going to church, etc., that I probably shouldn't even claim that. But I definitely do believe in God and goodness and some kind of greater power. I find it hard to look at nature and the universe and not believe that there's something else out there.

My mother and one of my best friends are both atheists, and I was for a bit. That said, one of my other best friends is Catholic, which makes for some really interesting theological discussions.

I'm Jewish (on both sides of the family, though my mother only refers to herself as a cultural Jew), and I find a lot of comfort in my religion. I did question it (and G-d) for a while during high school, but I've settled into a very comfortable acceptance. It's especially interesting majoring in the sciences and being religious. Something I've found with Judaism especially is that it's not entirely the religion but the culture that you embrace. I love being Jewish and all it entails (particularly the copious amounts of delicious dessert).

I believe in God.
The end.
Seriously though, I don't believe in organized religion. (Bitter Catholic schoolgirl, much?). I really think that religion is one of the main causes of all the division/prejudice in our world. About 2 years ago I researched all sorts of religions. I just take the principles that I feel are true and then apply them to my life. I also believe in an after life. I guess you could label it as heaven. I don't believe in hell or purgatory.
I just believe in being totally accepting and caring to fellow humans. No matter what. I don't believe there are any rules or services that you have to attend. God isn't commandments, or some supreme ruler that judges humans. God is the love that exists inside of us.
Basically, I'm spiritual.

I'd say I'm atheist as well. I don't believe in God, or Adam and Eve or any of that. We're all created by science.

organized religions in general tend to make me very angry. i don't know whether it's the fact that i can't find comfort in blind belief or the restrictions religion places as well as the past and the fact that people can actually believe the stuff. anything that deals with telling me what i can and cannot do with my body and believe with my mind angers me to no end. i've experimented with countless religions and none of them do anything for my really.what do i believe in? i believe in the human body. i believe in music and art and emotions. i don't think we have a purpose, or that there is such a thing as destiny, and i don't think humans are inherently good.

i'm open to the fact of being proven wrong when i die though.

I'm a cradle Catholic. (Raised Catholic from birth) But I definitely didn't just go along with the religion because my parents are Catholic. Well actually, my dad is Episcopalian...I'm sure I just butchered the spelling...anyway, I think it should be noted that I'm not a traditional Catholic according to most people. I support gay marriage, and I have some issues with a few other teachings of the Church, but I choose to follow Catholicism anyway because there are a lot of great things about it.

I also want to say that I respect everyone and don't judge based on their religion, and even respect people more for being willing to share it. I hate it when people shy away from religion because it's a touchy subject. If you believe in something (or don't as the case may be) then I don't understand how anything bad can come from simply sharing your beliefs.

And I love meeting people of different religions. A few of my really good friends are Mormon, and a few are Hindu, with some Atheists (is this supposed to be capitalized?) and other random Christian types thrown in. I keep telling people that we should all go around to each others Church, or Temple, or whatever they call it and go to service to see what all the different religions are like.

So that got pretty long winded, but I felt like sharing my two cents. :)

I tend to classify myself as agnostic, although I'm probably more of an atheist. I belive in something, although I do not necessarily look at it as God. I don't really know what that means. *shrugs*

I definitely do not believe in God. The bible doesn't make any sense to me (like..the whole bible as a whole..). And it's pretty much like that with any religion and me.. To me it's just impossible to belive in anything like that. But I do believe that there is SOMETHING out there that we don't understand..something bigger than us..but I don't feel the need to make this something into a god to worship and follow his rules..

I do respect people who belive in God or somthing else, as long as they respect me as well. Cuz to me, people are free to belive in whatever they want as long as they respect that others belive in something else. and as long as you don't try to push your own beliefs onto others..

:D

Oh and!! I do not respect exremeists (or whatever it's called).. those who take religion to the extremes, and kills in the name of God or Allah. Cuz those people are just brainwashed, and stupid as hell. Cuz I do not think any God would ever justify killing masses of innocents. Fanatics like that are just interpreting parts of their holy book and then forgetting the rest of the message..

yeah..i guess religion makes me pretty damned angry sometimes..
